Joe Hart: Chair
Joe is co-owner of Icon Homes Ltd which and has been a licensed home builder for 9 years. Icon Homes is located in Quesnel, B.C. Joe started his carpentry apprenticeship in 1979 and has been involved in the home building industry since. Joe served on the BCCA-North Board of Directors for 7 years and was on the executive board for the last 2 years of service. Currently Icon Homes Ltd is a member of CHBA-BC. Joe has been involved in the entire process of the development and inception of the PBI.
Gordon English: Past Chair
Gord has been actively involved in the construction and development industry for the past 30 years. During that time he has volunteered for numerous industry and community organizations. He is a past president of the Canadian Homebuilders Association of Victoria and participated in numerous local and provincial committees. He has been a strong advocate for education and training in the construction industry. He participated in both the Developer’s Task Force and the Builder’s Task Force that resulted in the industry recommendation that the Professional Builders Institute be created to administer education, training and certification of residential builders.
Eric Gerrits – Secretary
Eric is with Homescape Building and Design located in Summerland BC. Eric has been on many boards and is active in both the CHBA Southern Okanagan and CHBA BC.
Dean Duperron: Treasurer
Dean is the President and CEO of the Duperron Group of Companies. Dean’s years of experience in post-secondary education at an international level and in serving on various boards provide professional expertise to the PBI Board of Directors.
Abigail Fulton B.A. LL.B.
Abigail Fulton is Vice- President of the British Columbia Construction Association, an organization representing approximately 2000 construction firms throughout B.C. A lawyer by profession, Ms. Fulton works with industry and government on regulatory and policy issues impacting the construction industry. Since joining the BCCA in 1998, Ms. Fulton has served on numerous boards and committees relating to the industry including the Safety Standards Appeal Board of BC, the Homeowner Protection Provincial Advisory Committee, the Common Ground Alliance and was a founding member of the Professional Builders Institute.
Prior to working with the BCCA Ms. Fulton practiced law in Manitoba specializing in real estate development work.
Allen is the President of Creuzot Homes and Construction Limited serving the Prince George area for the past 25 years. Allen is an active licensed residential builder and a member of CHBA Northern BC.
Bob is the president of RDC Fine Homes based in Whistler and serving the Sea to Sky corridor. RDC strives to be a leader in advancing the science of building a better home; they completed their 1st Built Green home in 2006 and their 1st Net Zero Energy home in 2010. Every RDC home is certified Built Green. Bob was also the Chair of the Built Green renovation committee that developed the Built Green Renovation standard for Built Green Canada. RDC has been a Georgie Award Finalist 9 times and a Gold winner 4 times. Bob is a board member for CHBA BC’s Housing Affordability Symposium. His past duties include member of the board for Built Green Canada, Past President of CHBA BC and CHBA Sea to Sky. Bob has been recognized as one of the Top 20 Most Influential People in the Residential Construction Industry for 2 years in a row.
Don was a builder/framer of single family houses in the 1970s and 1980s and a Director of the Greater Victoria Homebuilders Association. He was a manager with WorkSafeBC from 1987 to 2008 and was a director on several boards. After retiring in 2008, Don built his own personal residence in Grand Forks BC and serves on a number of community boards in the Grand Forks area.
Lesa is a co-owner of Lacey Developments Ltd. Her company is a proud member of PBIBC and strongly identifies with the Code of Ethics and Guidelines set forth by the organization. Lacey Developments Ltd. is a licensed builder. In the company she focuses on the day to day operations of the business like finance, marketing, safety and general administration. She is passionate about the industry and sees the PBIBC as the framework to raise the bar for residential construction in our communities.
Michael Merakian is the founder and President of Blue Ocean Construction Inc. Blue Ocean Construction Inc. is in its 23rd year of business and is a full-service, general contracting firm located in Coquitlam BC. Michael has 30 years’ experience in the residential and commercial construction industry in both the US and Canada. He has been a member of the Greater Vancouver and Canadian Home Builders Association for over 15 years.
Ron is the Vice President Construction with Morningstar and has enjoyed over 30 years of working in the construction and real estate development industry in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia. Ron is on the GVHBA Board of Directors and has served on many industry committees to promote excellence in the construction industry in BC.
